Definition A system for stratifying neoplastic changes of Barrett’s oesophagus (as seen by histopathologists), ranging from Category 0negative for dysplasia to Category 5.2—invasive epithelial neoplasia—submucosal invasion

Category        Description

Category 1    No dysplasia

Category 2   Indefinite for dysplasia

Category 3   Low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia

Category 4   High-grade intraepithelial neoplasia

Category 5   Invasive epithelial neoplasia

5.1 Intramucosal cancer

5.2 Submucosal cancer
