NEUROPATHOLOGY

A descriptive term for a typical finding in the CNS of multiple sclerosis, which corresponds to an area of demyelination seen by gross examination or by low-power light microscopy  

Other histologic features of MS include myelin-axonal dissociation, with preserved axons without myelin, and accumulation of sudanophilic lipids, due to myelin breakdown
