Definition A dermatopathology term of art referring to a minute nest of tumour cells, measuring ±0.05 mm in diameter located in the reticular dermis, fat, or vessels of a person with melanoma, and separated from the main lesion.

Melanomas with satellite nodules have a far worse prognosis than melanomas of similar thickness without satellites.
