NEPHROLOGY, PATHOLOGY

A usually benign renal lesion characterised by epithelial lined tubular or cystic structures interspersed within a variably prominent, distinctive spindle-cell stroma
Clinical findings Usually female; half of patients present with flank pain, haematuria; half are asymptomatic and MEST an incidental finding.

Differential diagnosis Mesoblastic nephroma, cystic hamartoma of renal pelvis, cystic nephroma with cellular stroma, eiomyoma, angiomyolipoma.

Synonym Adult cystic nephroma, MEST
