NEUROLOGY, PATHOLOGY

A descriptive term for the macroscopic (and imaging) appearance of the patchy midbrain demyelinisation that is typical of multiple  sclerosis and best appreciated using a myelin stain, which has been fancifully likened to the patches of pigment seen on the coats of Holstein cows.
