PATHOLOGY

A popular term for a coelomic epithelial cell often seen in Brenner 

tumours of the ovary (image). Similar cells are described in granulosa cell tumours which, when multi-nucleated, may appear as “florettes”, and regarded as a degenerative phenomenon.

MICROBIOLOGY

Coffee bean is a descriptive term for Pneumocystis jiroveci (P carinii) trophozoites, which have also been likened to a folded envelope, the more commonly used visual analogy.
