Definition A descriptive term for the granular red-brown crystalline material that corresponds to the amorphous urates which appear in normal acidic urine and have been fancifully likened to crushed brick. They are composed of calcium urate, magnesium urate, sodium and potassium urates which crystallise when urine is acidified.
