Sinding-Larsen Johansson disease 


A disorder of the proximal end of the patellar tendon as it inserts into the inferior pole of the patella. It corresponds to a chronic traction injury of the immature osteotendinous junction.

It is a closely related to Osgood-Schlatter disease.Some authors regard SLJ disease as jumper’s knee in a paediatric setting, affecting older children age 10 to 14.

Management Rest, quadriceps flexibility exercises 

Differential diagnosis

• Osgood Schlatter disease

• Jumper’s knee

• Patellar sleeve fractures

• Bipartite patella

• Infrapatellar bursitis
