OPHTHAMOLOGY

Macular degeneration—age-related—2 is a form (OMIM:153800) of age-related macular degeneration*.

*Macular degeneration is a multifactorial eye disease and the most common cause of irreversible vision loss in developed countries. In most patients, it is manifest as yellowish accumulations of protein and lipid lying under the retinal pigment epithelium and within the elastin-containing Bruch membrane.
