white noise

Definition A sound or group of sounds that have equal energy at all frequencies. White noise can be eliminated by raising the detecting device’s sensing threshold .

Note: Most early neonates fall asleep within 5 minutes in a background of white noise; only 1⁄4 of neonates fall asleep in 5 minutes without white noise.
