Definition A disability that manifests itself before age 18, which is characterised by significant limitations in intellectual functioning and in adaptive behaviour, related to everyday social and practical skills. Intellectual disability is defined by IQ tests for which 70 (or 75) or below are generally accepted cutoffs.
