hospital onset seizure

A self-explanatory term for a seizure which is first identified after hospitalisation of a person not previously known to have seizures. Most HOSs are of new onset, of generalised tonic-clonic type, recurrent, associated with a high mortality and are often managed with older antiepileptic agents
