cytotoxic molecule

HAEMATOLOGY

Any of a family of apoptosis-inducing proteins–e.g., TIA-1, granzyme B, granzyme M and perforin–found in azurophilic cytoplasmic granules of T cells, the presence of which serves to confirm the diagnosis of T cell lymphoma.

Cytotoxic molecule-positivity in Hodgkin lymphoma, and in anaplastic large cell lymphoma carries an unfavourable prognosis.
