Definition A condition (OMIM:614156) characterised by a green discolouration of the skin, urine, serum, and other body fluids, due to biliverdin accumulation secondary to inefficient conversion to bilirubin.
Clinical findings Affected individuals have symptoms limited to obstructive cholestasis and/or liver failure. The green jaundice can resolve by addressing the obstruction.
Molecular pathology Defects of BLVRA, which encodes biliverdin reductase that converts biliverdin to bilirubin, cause hyperbiliverdinaemia.
