Definition A term coined by Yongxin Yu in 2005 for four findings in obese diabetics:

• Hyperglycemia

• Dyslipidemia and dyslipoproteinemia

• Oxidative stress, and

• Endothelial dysfunction

which put them at higher risk of diabetic complications and death

Definition A popular term for four pathophysiological changes:

• Acidosis

• Coagulopathy

• Dysrhythmia

• Hypothermia

that follow massive blood loss which, if not addressed, may be lethal.
