ventricular fibrillation—paroxysmal familial—2

CARDIOLOGY

An autosomal dominant cardiac dysrhythmia* (OMIM:612956).

*Characterised by fibrillary ventricular discharges due to rapid repetitive excitation of myocardial fibres without coordinated contraction of the ventricle and by absence of atrial activity.

Molecular pathology Defects in DPP6, which encodes a protein that binds voltage-gated potassium channels, altering their expression and biophysical properties, cause ventricular fibrillation—paroxysmal familial—2.

Synonyms Familial paroxysmal ventricular fibrillation type 2, paroxysmal familial ventricular fibrillation 2
