CARDIOLOGY

Myocardial infarction caused by any condition other than coronary artery disease*, characterised by increased myocardial oxygen demand or reduced oxygen supply, resulting in myocardial necrosis.

*In myocardial infarction type 2, coronary artery disease may be present, but is not causative per se.  

Synonym Non-classic myocardial infarction
